General Meeting Minutes for February 20, 2010

Call to Order:
At 0915 Hours, President Rod Purcell called the meeting to order and led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Prayer – Chaplain Bob Winkler led the membership in prayer.
Guests and spouses were introduced and welcomed by President Purcell.
President’s Report:
President Rod Purcell discussed the outstanding work done by Jim Aichele on the Chapter Challenge Coins. The sale of those coins is moving along at a quick pace.
President Purcell discussed the medical issues of Russ Golesh and as requested invited Rich Widmeier to read a letter prepared by Russ. Rich Widmeier proceeded to advise the membership of the negative perceptions towards the Officers and Board of Directors in their lack of attempts to contact Russ Golesh on behalf of him and Russ. It was pointed out by President Purcell that such a perception was in fact not accurate. Rich read aloud a letter in which Russ stated his displeasure with the governance of the Chapter and officially tendered his resignation from the Chapter Board of Directors effective immediately. The resignation was accepted by President Purcell. A discussion followed in which the membership vehemently rejected the presented perceptions by Rich and Russ. Rich Widmeier then presented a letter officially submitting his resignation from the Board of Directors. The resignation was accepted by President Purcell.
Secretary’s Report:
Minutes from the January, 2010 meeting were recorded by John Lopotosky in the absence of the Chapter Secretary at the January meeting. Those Minutes were not available for presentation due to John’s scheduled training. A motion to defer the reading of the January, 2010 Minutes was made by President Purcell. No second or vote of the membership was called as no alternative courses of action were viable.
Treasurer’s Report:
Treasurer Al Mendoza read the Treasurer’s report.

Motion to approve was made by Corbet Macy with a second by Mike Beck. Motion passed.
Committee Reports:
Chapter Website:
President Purcell discussed an addition to the Chapter Website titled “Bennett’s Corner” where rides will be posted. He further discussed the Redlands Bicycle Classic event and the San Diego Poker Run on February 27, 2010.
Ride Coordinator:
Phil Dubois discussed the need for volunteers for the Redlands Bicycle Classic on March 26th. Staging for that day will occur at 0830 hours at the Beaumont City Hall parking lot. The same event will need volunteers on March 28th with staging at 0715 hours at the old Redlands PD facility at Orange St and Brookside Ave. Phil also discussed the Poker Run sponsored by California VI in San Diego on February 27, 2010. Two gathering locations will be used for those traveling to this event. At 0730 hours riders will be kickstands up from Starbucks Coffee off Jurupa Avenue just East of the I-15 in Ontario. At 0845 hours riders will be kickstands up from the Shell Station at 29115 Front Street in Temecula.
Quartermaster’s Report:
Phil Dubois reported that he has challenge coins, pins and rocker sets available for purchase. A new shirt design should be available for presentation next month.
Recruitment:
President Purcell discussed general recruiting and membership responsibilities.
Member Roster:
Terry Rammell advised the Chapter Roster is up to date with 59 current members. He discussed the process for walking prospective members through the application process as opposed to simply referring them to our website.
Safety Officer:
Paul Muro advised that the Advanced Rider Training and BBQ will occur on May 22, 2010, at the SBSO EVOC area at Glen Helen.
Twin Pines:
President Purcell initiated a discussion surrounding the continuance or ceasing of future rides and support to Twin Pines Ranch. A motion was made by Al Mendoza to continue our Chapter’s past involvement with Twin Pines Ranch. A second was given by Chris Woodin followed by a request for a raise of hands of those in favor and those opposed. Vote was unanimous in support of the motion. The Annual Twin Pines Christmas Ride will occur on December 4, 2010.
Wellness:
President Purcell previously discussed the medical issues of Russ Golesh.

Upcoming Rides:
President Purcell discussed the upcoming Southwest Conference. Information on all rides is available on the Chapter website.
Good of the Order:
Richard Bennett discussed the acronym ATGATT – All The Gear All The Time. He emphasized the need to remain vigilant in wearing protective gear year round to protect yourself from injury. He encouraged everyone to add one more level of protection to your present riding apparel each season.
Mike Beck advised he will be moving to Arizona in March and will transfer his membership to Arizona II.
Joe Landaker discussed a future ride to Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Base for a tour of their mock up Iraqi village training site. More information will be provided as this ride develops.
Door prizes were distributed.
Meeting was adjourned at 1025 hours on a motion by Al Mendoza with a second by Joe Delgado.
